All it takes is a different perspective

Back to overview

How often do we find ourselves stuck in our own story? Feeling like everything keeps repeating in circles? We keep searching for solutions within the same familiar realm, while the answer lies elsewhere. But what if we step aside? What if we dare to look from a different perspective?

It sounds simple, but embracing a new perspective is often far from easy. Our brain doesn’t always cooperate.

Why embracing a new perspective is so challenging

Our brain is wired to connect new information to what it already knows. This helps us function efficiently. Essentially, our brain receives information through our senses and ‘constructs’ an image. To do this quickly and effectively, it searches through a database of familiar images and experiences. For instance, we instantly recognize a door handle and don’t have to figure out what to do with it every time.

But this mechanism has a downside. Quantum physics teaches us that our brain receives about 11 million bits of information per second from the "WiFi field" around us. Of this massive amount, our brain filters out only 40 bits. These 40 bits form our reality—and they naturally align with what our brain already knows.

When we are under pressure, stressed, or rushed, this process becomes even more extreme. Our brain clings even more tightly to the familiar, simply to save energy. It doesn’t make room for new information.

This explains why we’re often so quick to dismiss new ideas or perspectives. Does this sound familiar? Someone comes up with a new idea, and within seconds, you’ve found reasons why it won’t work. That reaction is almost faster than light.

Our mind is designed more for survival than for growth or expansion. To our survival brain, a new perspective inherently feels unsafe. It craves control, evidence, and safety. And that makes growth difficult.

The role of the 'survival mode'

Yet, survival mode can also present an unexpected opening. Often, it’s only when the pain becomes too great—when the old ways truly stop working—that we’re willing to consider something new. As Leonard Cohen beautifully said: “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”

When we stand at that breaking point, an opportunity arises to shift from destructive to constructive, from stuck to growing. That’s the moment we suddenly see there’s another way.

The question is: do we let it come to that? Do we wait until pain forces us? Or do we consciously choose a different perspective now?

An invitation to curiosity

Here lies the invitation: you don’t have to wait. You don’t have to remain in "survival mode" until life forces your hand. You can choose curiosity right now.

And that choice doesn’t start with your mind—it starts with your heart. Your mind will always doubt, demand proof, and seek control. The heart works differently. The heart doesn’t need to understand everything; it simply knows. All that’s required is willingness. A willingness to open yourself up, even if you don’t know what lies ahead.

You don’t need to see the whole path. It starts with one step: opening yourself to new information and experiences. You don’t have to understand or handle everything immediately. But if you’re willing, you’ll set a process in motion that can change everything.

What happens when you see differently

When you’re willing to see differently, something fundamental shifts. The world outside doesn’t have to change right away, but the way you see that world does.

Where you once saw lack, you see possibilities.
Where you once felt criticism, you experience gentleness.
Where you once felt fear, you discover trust.

This shift in perspective is powerful. As Wayne Dyer said: “Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change.”

And that’s exactly how it works. A fresh perspective opens new doors. It gives you the space to discover yourself in ways you never thought possible.

The role of practice

But how do you make this shift lasting? By practicing. Just as a muscle grows stronger through repetition, your ability to see differently grows through regular practice. Moments of reflection, meditation, or stillness help you step out of your mind and connect with your heart.

In these moments of connection, magic happens. It’s not forced but flowing. It doesn’t come from willpower but from desire. From gentleness. From knowing you’re allowed to grow.

A choice for life

So, what does your choice look like? Will you wait until the old traps you? Or will you open yourself now
to what’s possible? It doesn’t have to be grand or dramatic. It doesn’t have to be perfect. All it takes is willingness.

Willingness to follow your heart.
Willingness to see from a different perspective.
Willingness to discover who you truly are.

Everything begins with one small step. One new view. One shift in perspective. Are you willing?
